2 Ways to Cook Whole Gluten‐Free Grains
Whole Gluten‐Free grains are exceptionally nourishing for your body because of the synergy of their components. The exceptional nutrients provided by unrefined brown rice, quinoa, and millet are perfect examples of the value of whole foods.

How to Cook Brown Rice, Millet and Quinoa:
This is the best way to cook rice, millet and quinoa. It will turn out tender and delicious. It will also be easiest for you to digest and receive all its valuable nutrients.

1. Measure out a specific amount of grain (2 cups will make a nice big batch). 2. Rinse thoroughly and drain.3. Cover with clean water and a dash of apple cider vinegar. 4. Soak overnight. 5. Drain and rinse thoroughly again. 6. For brown rice and millet, place in sauce pan with twice as much water as the dry grain you started with (2 cups of grain = 4 cups water) and put the cover on. For quinoa, place in a sauce pan (without extra water) over medium heat and stir occasionally until about half of it appears cooked. Then add the same amount of water to the pot as you started with dry quinoa (2 cups of dry = 2 cups of water).

7. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low. For rice and millet let cook, covered, for about 30 minutes until the water is gone. For quinoa, let cook uncovered for about 10 minutes until the water is gone and it’s all cooked.

*If you don't have time to soak overnight, this is a good way!

1. Measure out a specific amount of grain. 2. Rinse thoroughly and drain. Very Important! Don't skip this step!

3. Place in sauce pan over medium heat with twice the amount of water for quinoa (2 cups of dry = 4 cups of water), three times the amount of water for brown rice and millet (2 cups dry rice = 6 cups water)

4. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low. For quinoa, let cook uncovered for about 20 minutes or until water is gone. For brown rice and millet, let cook covered for about 45 minutes or until water is gone.

This salad makes a yummy light meal that features the raw potential of rubbed kale. Rubbing raw kale with sea salt breaks down the cell walls of the kale and allows you to benefit from the uncompromised nutrition and enzyme content of this special food.

Avocados provide a satisfying and healthy fat source. Fats are especially important for women to maintain balanced hormones. This increases reproductive and emotional health.

Ingredients:(use organic whenever possible)

1 bunch kale
1⁄4 teaspoon sea salt
1 avocado
2 medium tomatoes

2 cups sprouted lentils (optional)
1/4 cup sesame seeds
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint,
cilantro or basil

Directions:
1. Wash kale and remove stems by either cutting along the spine or grabbing from the base of leaf and pulling along the stem toward the top, stripping the leaf from the spine.

2. Chop kale into small pieces.

3. Place in a large bowl and sprinkle with sea salt.

4. Massage the salt into the kale until it turns bright green and goes limp as though it's been cooked. (This "rubbed kale" can be used in many dishes....a great way to prepare kale.)

5. Dice tomatoes and avocados.

6. Chop fresh herbs.

7. Add all ingredients to the kale in large bowl and toss until well mixed.

Use one of the following herb or spice combos:

Basil and Oregano • Curry • Garam Masala • Thyme and Sage • Cumin and Garlic Powder • Rosemary and Parsley • Spike, Old Bay or Chinese 5 Spice

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Chop root vegetable into fairly uniform chunky bite sized pieces.

Call #2: 30 Day Detox

1/28/2014

Call 2 of Plan Be’s 30 Day Detox was extremely informative and encouraging!  Rhonda had participants share on their experience thus far with the cleanse and reflect on what they are doing well.  Students said they were feeling energized, had better skin results, had reduced long term back pain and were becoming aware of what they were putting into their bodies.  We are blown away at how faithful they have been to make the needed changes in their diet!  They are even getting their family and friends involved.  All of this after only the first week of the cleanse!  Rhonda’s tactic in helping students focus on the positive (what they are doing well), attests to her natural ability to help others walk in wholeness.  After all, wholeness does not just focus on the physical but encompasses being whole spiritually, emotionally and mentally.  Ronda teaches students to change their language and their mindsets so that they are not restricting themselves from unhealthy foods, but instead they are EXCHANGING those foods for life giving nutrients.  You can’t learn this stuff on your own folks!  It really does benefit to have a Certified Health Coach enlightening you on your journey in healthy living.

Students were also given tips on their individual journeys and lifestyles.  Plan Be’s goal is to show that at any stage of life, healthy eating and living is doable.  We are here to equip ALL in their lifelong journey of wholeness.

Students are now gearing up to exchange more unhealthy habits and foods for life giving foods this upcoming week.  We will keep you posted on their progress!

30 Day Detox

1/20/2014

Plan Be held our first call last night for this session's online healthy eating class!  We have about 15 students who are eager to learn and grow in the area of healthy eating.  Rhonda shared on topics ranging from shopping tips, negative effects of milk and dairy, tongue scrapers, and caffeine addiction, just to name a few.  Her expertise and skill is apparent and exceeds the investment for the class.  Plan Be's Marketing and Communications Director, Nicole Miller also shared her testimony on her experience of taking the 90-day cleanse in 2013 and then incorporating all she learned into her everyday diet.  It has been one year later and Nicole is now 20 lbs lighter and 2 pants sizes smaller!  Nicole credits the initial detox and Rhonda's equipping to her success.

Rhonda has tailored the online class to be a 30-day detox which should be more feasible for all participants.  Foods will slowly be eliminated weekly and exchanged for more healthier substitutes.  This format prevents students from becoming overwhelmed with the changes being made in their diet.  Students will also be able to attribute certain illness/symptoms to the unhealthy foods that are being slowly removed.

Students will be journaling daily about their detox experience which will also help them in learning their body and how certain foods affect it.  Rhonda is a pro at guiding
others along the path of healing and wholeness.  She has encouraged the
students to partner up with a buddy so they can walk this path together.  Given the group's accountability, Rhonda's coaching and instilling the "buddy system", we foresee great success from this detox.  We will certainly be updating the blog with more testimonies for Plan Be!
